Podcast – The Future of Architecture – Talk #1: Computational Design with Timo Harboe Nielsen

The Future of Architecture will be greatly influenced by the technological advancements of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) – or will it? How will the rapidly developing technology of automation potentially impact the way we engineer structures to produce architecture? In our interview with Timo Harboe Nielson, we explore how computational design could unite structural engineers and architects.

About the Guest:
Timo Harboe Nielsen is an architect-friendly structural engineer who specialises in computational design, geometry processing and parametric structural analysis. He sits comfortably at the intersection between Structural Engineering, Architecture and Coding. A graduate from Danmarks Tekniske Universitet (Technical University of Denmark), Timo aims to integrate computational technologies such as parametric modelling and programming with construction design – seeking to eliminate the repetitive tasks via the means of Automation. After working as Structural Engineer at BIG – Bjarke Ingels Group – for three years, he is currently a Computational Design Specialist (and a Structural Engineer, of course!) at Rambøll, Copenhagen.
