Skanska has won a $146m contract from New York’s Metropolitan Transportation Authority to replace 21 subway escalators throughout the city.

The design-build project also sees the company upgrading escalator machine rooms.

Ten of the new escalators will be installed at Lexington Ave/63rd Street Station.

21st Street/Queensbridge Station will get six.

Park Place Station gets two, while one each goes to 51st Street, High Street, and Franklin Avenue stations.

Skanska said work starts this month and is expected to finish in February 2027.
