Custard Cream, anyone?

The Ancient House in Clare, Suffolk, boasts some of the loveliest pargeting around! Just look at those soft, intricate curves.

Pargeting is a type of vernacular plasterwork that adds interest and texture to the facade of timber-framed buildings.

It’s traditionally made using lime render, which is soft enough to scratch patterns into, or like in this case, create opulent hand-modelled forms.

Sadly, pargeting is now an endangered craft.

Where else have you seen pargeting like this?
