Please note the below update from the RMO, applicable to all active applicants on MRLs.

For full compliance with section 5.2 of the Purple Book guidelines Purple Book Guidelines (section 5.4) from 1^st January 2022.

• Please ensure that your site staff carry their LASNTG training card on site as it can be requested by the road authority as evidence of compliance with the requirement that all roadwork sites should be staffed by at least one person who has successfully completed the Basic Level Trench Reinstatement course and holds a valid card.

Evidence of training bookings etc. will not satisfy the compliance requirement from 1^st January.

Basic and Advanced Trench Reinstatement Training – Course Information

All licence holders are required to comply with the training requirements set out in section 5.4 of the Guidelines for Managing Openings in Public Roads (the ‘Purple Book’). The requirements are as follows:

• All roadwork sites should be staffed by at least one person who has sucessfully completed the Basic Level Trench Reinstatement course and holds a valid card. The validity of training is 5 years.
• Please note that personnel whose Basic cards have expired or are due to expire will need to complete a 1 Day Refresher Course within 6 months of the expiry date. Failure to complete the refresher within 6 months will require them to attend the 2 day Basic course.
• Refresher courses for the Basic Level Trench Reinstatement course are now commencing and are included in the training availability listing below.
• All reinstatement works shall be inspected, monitored and certified by an Approved Certifier who has completed the Advanced Level Trench Reinstatement Course.

The RMO are working with LASNTG to provide applicant organisations with details of training availability. Below you will find the dates of upcoming courses for Mar 2024 with the number of places available.
