The Hunter Saw & Machine Company holds a significant place in the industrial history of Pittsburgh and Lawrenceville. Established at the turn of the 19th century, the company specialized in producing high-quality saw blades and other cutting tools for the steel industry.

A decade ago, Doug and Liza Cruze, co-owners of Cruze Architects and Cruze Construction, meticulously renovated the space over the years, showcasing their expertise in converting historic buildings into modern gems even within tight budgets.

Join GBA and Hunter Saw owners & architects Doug and Liza Cruze on a tour of this historic building. Tour attendees will learn about strategies and techniques used while giving this old building new life such as material reuse, rainwater collection, and destratification. Attendees will also hear about Doug and Liza’s trials and successes during their process of seeking historic tax credits with the help of Clio Consulting.
